- This announcement serves as a Request for Information (RFI) issued for the purpose of market research in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation nor is this notice for a request for quotations. DO NOT submit a quote or proposal in response to this RFI. However, the contractors that believe they have the capability to meet the agency's requirements are encouraged to submit a response to this RFI by providing the requested information. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 811212 and the size standard is $25.5M. The purpose of this notice is to identify contractors that are capable and qualified to provide premier maintenance of Data Access Storage Devices (DASD), which consist of EMC, CISCO and Brocade data storage equipment. Interested contractors must be an authorized EMC service provider and provide written documentation. The objective of this Request for Information (RFI) is to obtain a list of contractors that are EMC Authorized Service Provider that will provide preventive maintenance services for DASD, remedial maintenance services for DASD, and assistance in the relocation of Government-owned hardware. The Agency's enterprise applications utilize seven computer operating systems: 1. IBM's zOS/MVS (Mainframe), 2. IBM AIX, 3. Linux / zLinux / Red Hat Enterprise Linux / Oracle Linux, 4. Solaris, 5. HP-UX, 6. VMware, 7. Microsoft Windows. The contractor shall have the ability to support data storage equipment for all seven operating systems. Description of Government-Owned Equipment in need of Maintenance: • EMC High Performance Enterprise and Departmental Storage Subsystems - For the Social Security Administration Offices Nationwide. • EMC, CISCO and Brocade Storage Area Networks (SAN), Directors, and Switches • EMC/Data Domain Virtual Tape Libraries - including Data Deduplication • Cisco port card: (Model Numbers - MDS-PBF-24SW, MDS-PBF-48SW) • EMC Software including local and remote replication software, SAN management software, and Fully Automated Storage Tiering • Non-disruptive microcode updates or replacements - The ability to update or replace the controller microcode without having to shut down the Storage Subsystem. Other Considerations: • Call Home Maintenance Alerts - EMC hardware and software has the ability to detect a failed component or to detect when a component within a unit exceeds a certain preset threshold and alerts EMC to take reparative action. EMC has remote access from the EMC Federal Service Center in Draper, Utah using a secure VPN tunnel for troubleshooting equipment, software and the action needed to correct the problem. All interested contractors should respond no later than Friday, July 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., EST via email to Michele.Tubman@ssa.gov. Please reference SSA-RFI-14-1401 and your company name in the subject line of the email. Please note that your email size limit cannot exceed 5 Megabytes. This is not a request for proposal or quote and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. SSA may contact respondents as results of the data received to request additional information. SSA will not award a contract based on responses received.
