- SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE for ADVANCED DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING (Tethered, Vented Bottle Cap) Notice Date: July 02, 2014 Notice Type: Sources Sought Contracting Office: U.S. Army Contracting Command - Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG), Edgewood Contracting Division, ATTN: CCAP-SCE, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21010-5401 Solicitation Number: W911SR-14-R-VCAP (Please be advised, this is not a Request for Proposal.) Synopsis Description: The Advanced Design and Manufacturing (ADM) Division of the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC), Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD is conducting market research to identify potential sources that can provide a tethered, vented bottle cap meeting the following desired requirements: Physical requirements o Cap diameter: 60 - 65 millimeters o The cap shall have a tether that can be attached externally to the mating bottle o The cap shall have a vent that will allow air to flow into the bottle o That cap shall have a vent that will not pass water even if the bottle is shaken or inverted o The cap shall have a vent capable of providing air flow of at least 500 milliliters per minute, at a pressure difference of 2.5 kilopascals o Color: matte black The purpose of this Notice is to identify potential sources with the ability to manufacture and readily supply the tethered, vented bottle cap. Information Sought: The Government requests that an information paper be submitted as part of the response. The information paper should address the following: 1. Describe the product's technical capability including but not limited to the cap's thread size and style, the cap's material, the vent design and material. Also describe the product's ability to meet the Physical requirements described above. How is the product used? How is the product supported and maintained? 2. Describe the company's capabilities and maturity. How is the company structured to support the product if the Government integrates it into their program in the near and long term? Will the product be available if additional units are needed? 3. Describe how the product is manufactured. What design considerations were considered when designing and manufacturing the product? 4. Will an option be provided to the Government to purchase the Government Purpose technical data package rights for the tethered, vented bottle cap? Responders shall fully identify consumable materials and ancillary equipment, even if manufactured by vendors other than themselves. Instructions to Responders: Sources having the capability and/or concept to meet these requirements are invited to respond to this Notice by submitting an Information Paper. For all responses an additional nonproprietary cover page is requested identifying your company name, technical point of contact, and contact information. This is a Sources Sought Notice. There is no solicitation available at this time. Requests for Solicitation and inquiries related to same will not receive a response. This Notice is published for market research purposes only, and in no way obligates the Government to issue a solicitation or otherwise make a contract award. Any and all information submitted in response to this synopsis is strictly voluntary. The Government will not pay for any information submitted in response to this RFI. All information received that is marked proprietary will be handled accordingly. Acknowledgement of receipt of responses will not be made, nor will respondents be notified of the Government's view of the information received.
