- Description
- The purpose of this modification to this announcement is to respond to questions received as a result of this posting, revise Submittal Information and to extend the due date of responses. Questions and Responses: The hosting space shall have the following electrical supply and distribution characteristics: Question: All datacenter electrical systems will be minimum 2N redundant to provide high availability to supported IT equipment. I would like to clarify that the "2N" is indeed one of the requirements and it is not a typo of a N+1 or N+2 data center. Answer: 2N is used in terms of system redundancy. "N" is the number of devices (chillers, UPS units, or similar) that are necessary to support the load. In terms of increasing redundancy (and therefore system reliability), from lower to higher, we would indicate N, N+c (where "c" is an integer, from 1 and going up), 2N, 2(N+c). In general, the requirement for a Tier III datacenter requires a fully redundant, concurrently maintainable set of systems at the 2N or higher level, with no single points of failure (SPOFs). In terms of electrical support, 2N would generally mean dual main medium-voltage feeders from the utility, dual switchboards with an automatic tie, dual UPS systems, and dual distribution paths to the supported IT equipment. Question: What are the VA's critical applications? What is the recovery time objective and recovery point objective the Veterans Affairs has for its critical applications? What hardware supports the applications that are deemed critical by the VA? Answer: We are not prepared to address the answers to these specific questions at the RFI/Sources Sought level. The systems/applications supported range from less-critical to absolutely mission critical, and support local, regional, and national Agency entities. Additional details on supported systems would be provided in any potential RFP. Submittal Information All responsible sources may submit a Capabilities Statement which shall be considered by the agency. The Government requests that interested parties submit a response, no more than 10 pages, for your company, your teammates and/or subcontractors (NOTE: Service Level Agreements provided in the response will NOT be counted as part of the 10 pages). Additionally, please indicate if you, your teammates and/or subcontractors are a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, Small Business, or a Veteran Owned Small Business. Please note VA118-14-I-0419 in the subject line of your response. Due date of responses has been extended until July 11, 2014.
