- The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) in Elizabeth City, NC performs heavy industrial depot maintenance and overhaul activities on USCG arircraft. These activities require the use of all types of machinery. Periodicaly, these machines reuqire service, maintenance or the changing of components. To comply with applicable safety and health standards, when service and maintenance is performed on machines and equipment, it must be done with the machine or equipment stopped and isolated from all sources of energy in order to protect the workers. The Lockout Tagout energy control program consists of a comprehensive and consistent Lockout Tagout procedure for each machine to be able to isolate them from all energy sources. The program includes policy, lockout porcedures for each machine, training, lockout-tagout devices, a maintenance kit and a process for annual auditing of employees and equipment.
