Description

The Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (SSRL) at SLAC is seeking sources to provide a low-noise multi discrete element germanium x-ray detector. The detector will be used to detect and energy-resolve high fluxes (>100 kcps) of e-rays in the energy range 5 to 40 keV for synchrotron-based x-ray absorption sprectroscopy (XAS). The system shall contain up to 32 discrete Ge detector elements in a close-packed array. Each detector shall be capable of providing independent output with energy resolution better (less) than 250 eV FWHM at ca 6 keV at incoming count rates of ca 100 kcps with dead time losses les than 20% as processed with commercially available digital amplifiers such as, but not limited to, the XIA (LLC) DXP-XMAP amplifier. Typically each detector element has an active area of ca 25 mm2. The physical dimension of teh detector cannot be larger than 32" long by 18" wide by 32" high. The detector will be deployed in ambient environmental conditions and will be in coninuous use (24 hours per day/7 days per week) for 9 months a year. Prior demonstrated experience and comparable reliability through long periods of synchrotron beam line user operations is necessary. The supplier must have demonstrated ability to provide rapid service, maintenance, and repair/refurbishment as necessary.
