Description

The New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS), located at 1501 San Pedro SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, intends to enter into a firm fixed price contract for Regulated Medical Waste Services (Bio-hazardous & hazardous waste removal and disposal). The acquisition will be accomplished using commercial item procedures in accordance with FAR Part 12 - Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Part 13.5 - Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The contractor will be required to provide services during normal working hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CDT. The minimum yearly quantity of Medical Waste is 75,000 lbs, with a maximum yearly quantity of 500,000 lbs. The contractor will be expected to provide the following services on a yearly basis: "Regulated Medical Waste removal, monthly estimate of 12,500 lbs. "Chemotherapy Waste removal, monthly estimate of 120 lbs. "Reusable Sharps Container contents removal, monthly estimate of 2750 lbs. "Removal of, or installation of, sharps containers, as needed. "Yearly Training on OSHA Mandatory Bio Hazard Handling. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 562112 - Hazardous Waste Collection. Any firms who wish to identify their interests and capability to provide this service must provide proof that authorization from the manufacturer has been attained by notifying the Contract Specialist no later than 04:00 PM EDT, July 25th, 2014. Such notification must include any documentation that includes certifications and description of services that meets or exceeds the capabilities of the manufacturer. Notification shall be e-mailed or faxed to Jessica Roman, Contract Specialist, jessica.roman@va.gov, fax: 432-517-4586. Upon receipt of any such notifications, the Contracting Officer will determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement or proceed with the sole source negotiation. Responses received will be evaluated, however; a determination by the Government not to compete this proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This is not a request for competitive proposals or quotes.
