- Description
- This is a Sources Sought Notice for the Acquisition of a Large Capacity Clinostat For questions on this requirement and to submit capability statements please contact keith.costantino@va.gov or 412-822-3438 no later than JULY 24, 2014 Title: Clinostat Purpose: The Large Capacity Clinostat will be used as a ground control system to mimic some of the conditions of space based micro gravity on the ground. Background: The VA Medical Center in Durham NC is in need of a Large Capacity Clinostat to be used in conjunction with a wide field high content microscope capable of providing automated cellular imaging in fluorescent, transmitted light, and phase-contrast modes for fixed- or live-cell assays. Scope: Large-capacity clinostat that will be able to hold and rotate both an Image Express Micro High Content imaging System and a Spectramax M5e plate reader or similar instruments at a defined rate of rotation. Delivery: The delivery of the equipment shall be at the Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center Durham, NC 27705. Tasks/Requirements; A. Requirements 1) Ability to mechanically and soundly support the M5e on a rotating platform that can be balanced for smooth rotation about an axis through the multi-well plate or Omni-tray contained in the plate reader. 2) Ability to control, adjust and set the rate of rotation of the clinostat. 3) Provide power to the instrument through a slip ring such that the M5e can be continuously powered. 4) Provide a USB slip ring data interface so that data can be read from the M5e and new protocols can be uploaded during rotation. 5) Provide a D.C. gravitational sensor to provide orientation data that can be used to trigger a read of the contained multi-well plate at an appropriate point during rotation. Accelerometer data will be made available also through a slip ring so that an external interface computer can measure orientation and control the system accordingly. 6) Provide a laptop computer with software suitable to integrate the sensor data with the program used to control the M5e. 7) Tools and other ground support equipment (GSE) necessary to mount instruments or other systems on the clinostat platform and maintain and operate the system. 8) Provide a training course, documentation (design drawings, operations manual, etc.) required to maintain and use the system.
