Description

Notice of Intent The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with MKS Instruments, Inc. Andover, MA for MKS Brand Differential Pressure Sensors, Absolute Pressure Sensors Power Supply Signal Conditioner Unit and Cable for the Thermodynamic Metrology Group at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Thermodynamic Metrology Group operates the Calibration Service and currently owns multiple MKS CDG Controllers. MKS CDG will be used in current NIST Transfer Standards in the Vacuum Service as Check Standard during calibration. MKS Instrument, Inc. is the sole manufacturer and distributor of The MKS 698A01TRA, MKS698A11TRA Differential Pressure Sensors, MKS 690A.1TRB Absolute Pressure Sensor, MKS 670BD21 Controller and MKS CB270-2-10 Cable in the United States. MKS Instruments, Inc. has proprietary technology and their control system is the sole system capable of 100 percent compatibility and integration of the existing MKS CDG Controlllers at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland. No other companies The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition 334513, with a size standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by August 05, 2014 will be considered by the Government.
