Description
This Sources Sought will be used for market research purposes only. The Government is conducting market research to assist in determining the appropriate acquisition strategy. The Government is seeking responses from businesses capable of providing the services described below, with equivalent specifications. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement in response to this sources sought, or a proposal or quotation in response to any solicitation resulting from this sources sought, which shall be considered by the agency. Seeking companies able to provide service with the EXACT specifications and capabilities of the M40 POD Queue and H30 POD Queue by Penguin Computing. Specifications of Penguin Computing's services include, but is not limited to: Access to High Performance or Supercomputer clusters (groups of computers that work together as one large computer) that provide very fast parallel computing needed for computational chemistry. Accounts for students shall be provided by the vendor and are controlled by the customer. Graphical User Interface that will allow the students to build molecules easily, setup computational chemistry jobs, submit jobs and analyze results through the standard web browsers (like windows explorer and Firefox and others) using WebMO or equivalent software. WebMO or equivalent software will be installed by the Vendor. Service shall contain a hard stop on usage when the allocated funds are exhausted. Computers shall be located, powered and maintained virtually by the vendor 24/7. Vendor will be paid for ACTUAL use in advance. There shall be login nodes that allow students to test ideas and build jobs at no cost (single nodes). The memory per core shall be equal to or greater than 4GB/core and the data storage shall be elastic. A 10GigE network or faster is required to connect all nodes. The middleware employed shall be Grid Engine and/or Torque both which are industry standards. A Linux environment is required to execute applications like ADF, Gamess, NWChem and Siesta. The goal is to obtain 229000 core hours on the HPC cluster where the nodes can be configured as one or more smaller clusters. The nodes need to have at least 16 cores per node. No fees for setup, no administration fees and no fees for transferring data to or from the cluster. RESPONSES MUST INCLUDE A CAPABILITY STATEMENT AND/OR SPECIFICATIONS FOR SUGGESTED EQUIVALENT SERVICE. Responses due no later than July 28, 2014.
