Description
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS (MECS) FOR A: SOLID STATE LASER USAMRICD is seeking an integrated, turn-key system capable of conducting optogenetics and uncaging studies. This system must be able to deliver variable power laser pulses at a variable rate via optical fiber to specific locations in a microscope field of view. This system must have the following minimum essential characteristics: 1) A solid state laser capable of generating 473 nm light with not more than a 10nm bandwidth and 75 mW output, delivered via one fiber using an FC connector and electrically integrated with software. 2) Scan head capable of steering laser beam to precise location in field of view to delivery programmable laser pulses 3) Fully integrated microscope with 10x and 40x objectives; z-axis motor control; phase contrast; fluorescence excitation and FITC and TRITC emission filters. 4) A mechanism to provide fiber optic delivery of at least two laser lines via FC connectors 5) A cooled CCD camera for imaging epifluorescence, with at least a 2.6 megapixel field of view, 14-bit and USB interface 6) Microscope stage compatible with low-mount, MP-265 Sutter micromanipulators for electrophysiology studies 7) Imaging workstation compatible with uncaging experiments, including 512 GB solid state drive for acquisition, 256 GB RAID array for operating system, a 2TB hard drive for short-term data storage, 32 GB memory, quad processor, at least a 28 quote mark widescreen LCD monitor and Windows 7 Pro OS 8) Fully integrated software capable of managing image acquisition via full control over microscope and laser
