- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to negotiate and award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Pacific Biosciences for sequencing supplies for sequencing 100 bacterial genomes. The 100 bacterial genomes will be sequenced at CDC on a Pacific Biosciences SMRT Sequencer. The Pacific Biosciences SMRT Sequencer uses a unique process that involves the long sequencing reads needed to complete genomes of Neisseria meningitidis, the bacterium studied in this project. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (Simplified Acquisition Procedures) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to H. Dale Bish, Contract Specialist, at hbish@cdc.gov by 2:00 PM EST on August 14, 2014. All vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) at www.sam.gov, prior to an award of a federal contract. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), a purchase order will be issued to Pacific Biosciences as the only source.
