Description
Acoustic Release RFQ Per FAR 12.603(c):This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. Provide the Detroit District an underwater acoustic equipment retrieval system for recovering seafloor platforms. The system should be comprised of two major components-an underwater release unit and a top-side unit. The underwater release will be deployed at depths up to 75-feet in freshwater environments. The system must be capable of being triggered by an on-demand acoustic release, and should have a backup timed release. Upon a triggered or timed release, a retrieval line attached to a buoy or other floatation device must surface and enable the retrieval of a stationary seafloor platform or other equipment, which can weigh up to 400-lbs in air. The retrieval line should be stored in a canister or other like device, and in a way that reduces the risk of entanglement. The release must not interfere with ADCP data collection while deployed. The top-side unit should be weatherproof, as it can be subject to the elements, and should be provided with all necessary cables associated with the acoustic release. The instrument must meet the following requirements: Top-side Unit  Acoustic communication range of at least 500-ft  System able to communicate with a single device when multiple are present in close proximity  Compatible with laptop via COM or USB port, or have stand alone controller  Weatherproof Underwater Release Unit  Capable of performing in fresh water  Capable of being triggered by an on-demand acoustic release  Has backup timed release (either internal or external to acoustic system)  Deployable to depths of at least 75-ft  Functions in water traveling at a maximum velocity of 3-feet per second  System shall be capable of lifting a tether line to the water surface for equipment recovery. The equipment can weigh as much as 400 lbs in air.  Release mechanism is resistant to fouling.  Battery life supports continual deployment of at least 4-months.  Must not interfere with ADCP (Rio Grande 600/1200 model) data collection while deployed  Able to communicate and initiate a release with a single device when multiple are present This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. Deliverables The final deliverables for this project include the following:  Top-side unit and sonar transducer o All required cables  Underwater acoustic release system o Acoustic release o Buoyancy/Flotation Device o Retrieval line storage/container System o Retrieval line  Maintenance kit  2 hard copies of operations and maintenance manual Project Schedule The product shall be completed and delivered within 30 days of contract award. The Contractor shall provide an itemized cost estimate. In the transmittal of the Contractor's estimate, the Contractor shall verify they understand the scope of work and schedule.
