Description
Request for Information For Reduced size PTT Please Respond To: Scott Germain, Scott.M.Germain.CIV@Mail.Mil, 508-233-5311 Background: Program Manager (PM) Special Operations Forces (SOF) Survival Support and Equipment Systems (SSES) are conducting market research to identify candidate material solutions to augment the current C4Ops communications headset suite with a reduced size push to talk. Performance attributes are: -Shall be effectively backwards compatible with the Silynx HHS-K-001 C4OPS Hybrid Headset Config with Opscore Chinstrap Boom Mic and the CA0001-00 MBITR/PRC117/152 5 pin Cable Adaptor (19.7in), CA0059-00 Special Communications Cable (3.5mm Stereo Plug), without altering their performance characteristics: -Shall be compatible with current SOCOM and Regular Army Radio and ICS systems including the 117G, 152, 148, all variants of the JEM, Telephonix Digital ICS, VIC 3, PSC 5, 119 -PTT must perform consistently in all standard Special Operations Forces operating environments. It must be built to withstand arduous combat conditions for not less than 120 days in austere locations in all environments. The headsets will be employed in the jungle environment and experience many days of high humidity, rain, potential water submersion, thorny trees and bushes etc. In the Desert environment the headset will endure solar radiation, sand storms and dust, high temperatures and rocky terrain. Mountainous environments bring jagged rocks, hauling and rappelling, climbing harnesses etc. The PTTs will be jumped from high altitudes, loaded in vehicles or on aircraft pallets for transport, used around sharp objects, subjected to vibration wear and tear, dropped from heights of 15 feet, exposed to significant wear and tear, yet have to perform to high standards in the face of combat. PTT should be able to survive temperatures from -40F to 180F. -Shall be capable of submersion to 20m for 30min -Shall weigh no more than.27 lbs -Shall have tactile PTT buttons that are capable of being activated effectively with the Outdoor retailer Overlord Shorty, Poseidon and Firebrand gloves. -Shall be capable of simultaneously monitoring and selectively transmitting on two radios or one radio and an ICS system. -Offeror submissions shall work for all SOF operators including left hand shooters, and right hand shooters. -Shall provide parasitic power from the tactical radios capable of this to reduce the bulk and weight of the device while maintaining internal power. -System shall have training products that have explicit directions on wear, use, maintenance and a detailed list of components. Instructions must be a stand alone product; ie users should not need hands on instruction in order to use the equipment. - Offerors shall provide NRR ratings from an independent third party on all highnoise products in accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)Standard S12.6 2008. - Offerors may provide additional data showing acoustical and RF/EMI performance. - All external surfaces must be rust and salt water resistant and finished in a flat neutral color that is non-reflective -PTT without cabling shall be no larger than 2 inches by 2.5 inches by 1 inch. Any parties having technologies that meet the above criteria should contact Scott Germain at scott.m.germain.civ@mail.mil no later than 11 AUG 14 THIS RFI IS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO PROCURE ANY ITEMS/SERVICES, NOR FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR THE INFORMATION RECEIVED. NO ENTITLEMENT TO PAYMENT OF DIRECT OR INDIRECT COSTS OR CHARGES BY THE GOVERNMENT WILL ARISE AS A RESULT OF SUBMISSION OF RESPONSES TO THIS RFI AND GOVERNMENT USE OF SUCH INFORMATION.
