- Description
- The following answers questions received in response to the solicitation. The due date and time for quotations remains unchanged. QUESTION 1: Request to know if you will amend the solicitation to allow active markers to be used in the motion tracking system as the primary markers vice passive markers or to allow either passive or active markers? RESPONSE 1: No. QUESTION 2: If passive markers are required by the motion capture system specified in the solicitation, request to know why active markers would be unable to provide the location and tracking capacity for multiple robots (including tooling, e.g., grippers), workpieces, and fixtures described in reference (a). RESPONSE 2: Passive markers are specified since active markers are commonly tethered or require a power source (e.g., battery) which could make them bulky (and relatively heavy for tracking small objects). QUESTION 3: Request to know why latency of 6 milliseconds is specified in paragraph 10 of the specifications of solicitation? RESPONSE 3: Since we intend to track moving objects in "realtime" with this system, any latency in the system would result in an increase in the expanded uncertainty of the pose of a moving object. For an object moving at 1 m/s a latency of 6 milliseconds would result in an uncertainty of 6 mm, which we are willing to accept. A system with a higher latency would be unacceptable. QUESTION 4: Request to know how you will determine whether the motion capture systems offered in response to solicitation can meet the specifications? RESPONSE 4: The offeror shall submit a technical description or product literature for the equipment it is proposing, which clearly identifies the manufacturer, make and model. The offeror must demonstrate that its proposed equipment meets or exceeds each minimum requirement described in the statement of work by providing a citation to the relevant section of its technical description or product literature. Evaluation of technical capability shall be based on the information provided in the quotation. NIST will evaluate whether the offeror has demonstrated that its proposed equipment meets or exceeds all minimum requirements. Quotations that do not demonstrate the proposed equipment meets all requirements will not be considered further for award. QUESTION 5: Request to know if there is a minimum number of tracking cameras required? RESPONSE 5: No. The number of cameras is left up to the vendor; the vendor needs to determine the required number to ensure that the other requirements in the solicitation are met. QUESTION 6: Request to know whether visible or non-visible light is desired, required or permitted in the motion capture system requested in solicitation? RESPONSE 6: No preference. The light must be eye safe at all times without the need to wear protective eyewear.
