- Description
- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR FRANGIBLE JOINT ASSEMBLY. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer the questions below. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Question 1: Is there an incumbent that has already machined/formed the pieces of the assembly and that would be preferable to use or is NASA seeking to develop sources of supply? Answer 1: There are shops that have done this type of work for other NASA subcontractors, but we are seeking to develop new sources for this type of work. Question 2: Drawing SDH26152509 section A-A appears to be rotated 90 from the proper orientation. Is this interpretation correct? Answer 2: Yes it is rotated 90 degrees. Question 3: Does NASA intend to do source inspection on the individual pieces before assembly is done or will this inspection be done on completed assemblies? Answer 3: No source inspection is planned, completed assembly inspection is the plan at this point, but may take one apart to do component inspection. Question 4: Does NASA intend to issue additional solicitations to supply Mild Detonating Fuze and/or perform functional testing of the joint? Answer 4: No additional solicitations..we already have the cord and will be performing functional testing here at JSC. Question 5: Will functional testing be done with or without manifolds attached to the tube? Answer 5: At this point no manifolds are planned. Question 6: Finally, is a pdf version of Standard Form 1449 available? The URL address provided in the solicitation lacked this option. Answer 6: Use the link provided in the solicitation ( http://server-mpo.arc.na sa.gov/Services/NEFS/NEFSHome.tml ) and then type 1449 in the form number box. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on August 5, 2014.
