- Description
- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE) developed a mobile application to provide helpful information and assistance to the public, energy response stakeholders, utility emergency responders as well as federal, state, local government agencies. DOE designed a mobile application that uses geolocation data to find gas stations with fuel and powered pumps, load power outage maps from appropriate utility companies, and to allow users to use the camera on their phone to take photos of downed power lines and share them with utility companies. The Vendor shall provide access to the Google Places API, a service that returns information about Places defined within this API as establishments, geographic locations, or prominent points of interest using HTTP requests. Place requests specify locations as latitude/longitude coordinates. In addition, the vendor shall provide access to the Google Maps API, a service that provides solutions for developers to embed Google Maps into web pages. The Vendor shall provide access to Google Places API and Google Maps API as a service to DOE in order for the Department to provide information during natural disasters, catastrophic events, or other energy response events by identifying the location of gas stations, and whether the gas station are being reported as "open with fuel" or "closed without fuel." Specifically, the vendor shall provide access to Google Places in order to allow "Point of Interest" type API searches (i.e. gas stations, etc) as defined by the System Owner. In addition, the vendor shall provide access to Google Maps in order to provide Static Maps and the customization of the location pins.
