- This is a notice of intent to award a sole source purchase order and is not a request for competitive proposals under the authority of 41.U.S.C. 253 (c)(1) as set forth in Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(i). The government intends to enter into a firm fixed price award with Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc., 51 Valley Stream Parkway, Malvern, PA 19355, DUNS Number 103231817. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), conducting research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of neurological disorders and stroke. The NINDS mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the brain and nervous system and to use that knowledge to reduce the burden of neurological disease.. The Neuromuscular and Neurogenetic Disorders of Childhood Section is specialized on diagnosis, natural history studies and outcome measure research in the early ones neuromuscular disorders. The Section uses high lever ultrasound of muscle in its research, including imaging based on Acoustic Radiation Force Imaging (ARFI). The Neuromuscular and Neurogenetic Disorders of Childhood Section has a requirement to upgrade its existing Siemens S2000 ultrasound system to add new ARFI functionality and better image processing and display capabilities to the system. The upgrade will encompass the S2000 HD, the S2000 HELX VC30 software, and the S2000 Virtual Touch IQ upgrades. Small businesses are encouraged to respond to this notice if they are capable to meet the needs of this requirement. Written responses to this notice shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability and compatibility to fulfill the requirement. A complete statement of work is attached for reference. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industry Classification System Code 334510 Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing with a size standard of 500 employees. The Government shall consider all responses received prior to the close date of this announcement. All responses must be received no later than August 27, 2014 at 1:00PM, Eastern Standard Time.
