Description

RECOVERY - The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to fund the proposed action via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Pub. L. 111-5) (Recovery Act). The agency provides this notice for informational purposes only. The Division of Systems Storage Management (DSSM) needs to purchase IBM relocation services to move all 6 IBM FICON directors to the NSC to support the SSA's large number of physical tape drives and virtual tape at the NSC. SSA will have approximately 324 tape drives at the NSC and each tape drive uses 2 FICON channels. Each mainframe processor does not have enough FICON channels to support all SSA tape drives direct attachment, therefore, the relocations services for the FICON directors are essential. The proposed action is only available to International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) under National Aeronautics and Space Administration Solutions for Enterprise Wide Procurement (NASA SEWP) Contract. The agency intends to issue a firm fixed-price delivery order, following the procedures of FAR 16.505, for the purchase of relocation services for IBM Ficon Directors. *This notice is for informational purposes only; contractors should not respond.
