The brand name indicated in this solicitation is the only product that will meet the needs of the FBI. The FBI has a requirement to purchase a Leeds Comparison microscope. The Agency caseload requiring visual comparisons has risen sharply, necessitating the purchase of an additional microscope. The Leeds Comparison microscopes are the only ones compatible with the current agency inventory of Leeds Comparison microscopes already in use. The specificity for the Leeds microscopes is the digital optics and exchange of images paramount to maintain the seamless transfer between examiners on the existing system of Leeds microscopes. The FBI maintains an internal network on which images are stored on and compared. By alternating equipment, compatibility would not be possible. Procuring the new microscope will ensure continuity of operations, provide for a seamless transition, prevent excessive lack-of-compatibility costs, comply with current and future requirements, and enhance agency capabilities. The Leeds Comparison microscope is the only microscope that will meet the needs of the FBI.
