- This notice is being published in accordance with FAR Part 5.101, requiring the dissemination of information for proposed contract actions. The US Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, intends to issue a sole source contract to Teledyne-Reson for purchase of two replacement SeaBat multi-beam sonar systems. Teledyne-Reson is the sole manufacturer of the SeaBat multi-beam sonar system that is currently operational on the Buffalo District survey vessels. This sole-source contract ensures compatibility within Buffalo District and regional compatibility within USACE Division. Sole source is considered the most effective method to accomplish the mission with little or no modifications required to the current hull/pole mounts. This also ensures compatibility with the HYPACK software platform also used by the USACE Districts and eliminates the need for any additional personnel training that would be required if a different manufacturer and model was selected. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all submittals received by the due date of September 10, 2014 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
