Description
Questions and Answers Gun Locks VA741-14-Q-0223 Q.We understand the locks are to be compliant with ASTM standards. With which ASTM standard are they to be compliant? There is no ASTM number listed in the RFP and there are many ASTM standards that could apply. A.ASTM standard F2369-04 Q.Positive cam locking mechanism. Our gun locks use a pin tumbler mechanism. As the largest padlock manufacturer in the world we are not familiar with a "Positive cam locking mechanism". Can you please describe, this requirement in greater detail, or provide an example of such? A.from what I understand is that a pin tumbler mechanism is a cylinder for the key to open. Whereas the positive locking mechanism is an internal locking mechanism that prevents the lock from opening upon severe shock or impact without a key. I would say anything similar would work. Q.What is the specific requirement for the adult and family gun safety educational material piece? Is it a one page flyer? Is it per lock, per shipment? Is it to be packed in the bag with each lock or is it a separate piece of information not combined with the lock? Once again, please describe in greater detail your expectation for this requirement. Q.Also, is there any guidance you can give on the educational material? A.One flyer per lock. Prefer that instructions and education are included with each gun lock. Need: Easy to understand: "Instructions for use of the cable gun safety locks "Information on how to increase the safety of Veterans and families and their environment "General Safety information i.e. "Keep guns and ammo separate "Safe and proper storage of firearms and ammo "Responsible ownership "Keeping gun unloaded "Etc.
