Description

The attached document is a Request For Information (RFI) on your core, datacenter, and campus network solution. The Naval Postgraduate School is an academic institution whose emphasis is on study and research programs relevant to the Navys interests, as well as to the interests of other arms of the Department of Defense. The programs are designed to accommodate the unique requirements of the military. Nearly 1,500 students attend the Naval Postgraduate School. The student body consists of officers from the five U.S. uniformed services, officers from approximately 30 other countries and a number of civilian employees. The Information Technology and Communication Services Department at the Naval Postgraduate School is researching solutions for the lifecycle replacement of network equipment. A solution scalable to no less than 100Gbps connection from DMARC to Edge Distribution switches is requested. A solution is sought to modernize network electronics establish IPv6 compatibility to the maximum extent possible on NPS Networks provide sufficient infrastructure to meet campus requirements address baking in network security as a part of network design reduce management overhead in the operation of NPS Networks Information obtained will be used to: assist in the development of a Request for Proposal (RFP) to acquire a solution assist in making basic policy decisions necessary for solution deployment set up the necessary technical infrastructure plan a budget and funding for this environment Vendors are strongly encouraged to respond to this inquiry as this information will be instrumental in the identification of ITACS precise requirements. This request is strictly a mechanism for gathering information and will not constitute a procurement process. No award(s) for a network solution will be made as a result of this inquiry.
