Description
Sample picture of door with glass surrounding door Sample picture of door with Diamond glass Amendment to Solicitation Response to RFI questions provided by a prospective bidder for the housing door project. 1. How many time the contractor have to complete the project? Response: 45 days, no work shall be done on weekends and federal holidays, no exception. 2. Please refer to the SOW section 3.3 List of Houses Table. What is the number in the very last column in the table? If is the quantity there missing information regarding the locations of the doors for the houses 9 Cliff and 18 Cliff. 9 Cliff specify 4 doors and only indicate doors for M, R and SR. Similar for the 18 Cliff. Response: The final number of doors is 70 doors. For 9 Cliff and 18 Cliff, the missing door is L = laundry and for these doors we ask the contractor to include the transom in the door and to the house on 10 Cliff, another door was added, SR = Sunroom. I also explain that the doors not listed in the table, they shall include them as a typical or generic type of doors. 3. Could you re evaluate the Aluminum gauge 70 ( heavy ) requirement. Puerto Ricos's standard for " heavy" is 0.055 that is very secure and durable. All others previously installed door are Gauge 0.055. Since gauge 70 is not common in Puerto Rico the raw material should be imported only for this project and will increase the cost substantially. Response: Please provide a breakdown/quote for both 70 and 55 guage doors 4.SOW section 3.1.3 indicate that the contractors must determine if the existing doors contain lead and /or asbestos. There no way to predict how many doors contain lead for proposal purpose. Could you estimate how many doors would be lead contaminated for bidding purpose or provide an cost allowance for lead contaminated door disposal. This way all bidders will quote based in the same assumptions. Response: Contractor should assume that all concrete frame have lead and that the Coast Guard will provide a container to store it and eventually the Coast Guard will dispose of all debris. Contractor shall be responsible for disposal of all doors removed. 5. SOW section 3.1.4 indicate that workers must wear Personnel protective equipment including respiratory mask, nitrite gloves, use Hepa filters etc. to be protected against lead paint. Does the doors installation crew workers need to be protected, trained and certified or only the crew working during the existing door and selective demolition activities? Response: Yes, the workers shall use/wear PPE while working removing doors with frames filled with concrete and the project supervisor shall be certified for the removal of lead based paint. Other information to note: Submission deadline extended to Friday Sept 5th at 3 p.m See attached sample pictures of doors Coast Guard will provide a container for all concrete debris and will have that debris disposed of. Doors with L in the description will include the wooden transom removal and replace with aluminum frame and glass panel.
