- The Southern Regional Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract with E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company to procure BAX PCR (polymerase chain reaction) Assays/reagents for the Food Analysis & Diagnostic Laboratory (FADL), San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. BAX PCR Assays are required to screen foods for Zero Tolerate pathogens which will be used in conjunction with the RiboPrinter System. DuPont Qualicon is the sole manufacturer and distributor of the BAX PCR Assays, the RiboPrinter System, and accessories/components therefore all rights are reserved. Award will be made on or about 8 September 2014. The NAICS code 325413, size standard is 500 employees. This notice is neither a request for quotes nor a solicitation of offers; however, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which shall be considered by the agency. The salient characteristics for the DuPont Qualicon BAX System PCR Assays Brand Name or Equal are as follows: Must be a fast and accurate DNA-based method for detecting foodborne pathogens, spoilage organisms and other microbes in raw ingredients, finished products and environmental samples. Must be compatible with the DuPoint Qualicon BAX PCR detection system as an automated method for detecting microbes (Zero Tolerant pathogens) in food and environmental samples. System must be validated by the Association of Official Agricultural Chemists (AOAC) Research Institute or an ISO equivalent approved method. Protocol method for screening must use Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology. System must be able to detect Salmonella, E. coli O157:H7, Listeria monocytogenes, and Genus Listeria from raw ingredients, finished products and environmental samples.
