- ****** RESPONSE DATE CHANGED TO 5 SEP 2014************** **** ANTICIPATED AWARD DATE CHANGED TO ON OR ABOUT 11 SEP 14 *** NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT: This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract to AS&E for a Mini Z Handheld X-ray Backscatter Imaging System with a 3-year warranty for US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). JUSTIFICATION AUTHORITY: FAR 6.302-1 Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements JUSTIFICATION OF SOLE SOURCE: AS&E is the only is the only vendor that produces a handheld Backscatter system that can produce images using single-sided imaging to quickly locate hidden potential threats or contraband behind organic surfaces. USSTRATCOM was unable to find another source for a similar product that provided all of the needs that the Mini X Backscatter can provide. NAICS CODE: North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 334517 - Irradiation Apparatus Manufacturing, with a size standard of 500 people.
