Part II DESCRIPTION / SPECIFICATIONS / WORK STATEMENT 1)Scope of Work: The purpose of this requirement is to provide Asbestos Abatement Service for the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) NWI Grand Island, Nebraska VA. The service provided shall be performed in such a manner as to assure the safety and welfare of patients, visitors and staff. NWI VA is located at 2201 N. Broadwell Ave., Grand Island, NE 68803-2196 2)Work Requirement: a)The contractor shall provide all labor, material, and equipment needed to perform and completed the following scope: i.Contractor shall encapsulate soil that has been contaminated with asbestos. ii.Contractor shall clean any debris from this area that could tear plastic after installation. iii.Contractor shall install a 6 mil reinforced fire retardant plastic to cover an area approximately 2900 Square foot. Plastic shall be cut around all plumbing drain pipes and structural columns within this area. The plastic shall be extended up the walls, columns, and piping at a minimum of 1 foot. Plastic shall be attached to the concrete walls, columns, and piping as to allow for proper seal. iv.Contractor shall perform an air quality tests after poly install and prior to dismantling of poly after asbestos abatement, assuring that the area is below acceptable Standard OSHA exposure limits for VA employees. The results shall be turned into NWI Safety Department for verification and distribution.
