Description

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) intends to negotiate on other than full and open competition with Newport Spectra Physics, 3635 Peterson Way, Santa Clara CA the purchase of an upgraded an Spectra Physics Mai Tai XR laser with a Newport Spectra Insight Deep See ultrafast pulsed laser. This will replace the current ten Mai Tai laser that is 10 years old and in no longer sufficient for intra-vital imaging experiments. This upgraded model has a range of 690-1300nm which will allow excitation of red and far red dyes in intra-vital experiments. This laser will be integrated with the existing SP8 confocal microscope. Newport Spectra is the original equipment manufacturer and is capable of offering a substantial trade-in credit for the older laser. This is not a request for proposal. All responsible sources who have the capabilities and past performance successfully supplying and integrating this specific laser may submit a response that will be considered. The Government reserves the right to make a decision whether this requirement is available for competition.
