Description
Rationale for other than full and open competition IAW 6.302-1. Reference: HC102814T0167 Procurement of Security Cabinets from the Qualified Products List (QPL). Defense Information Technology Contracting Office procured security cabinets from the qualified products list (GPL) and the authorized manufactures. There are a variety of security containers (Class 5 and 6) available and are listed in the GPL. The four security cabinets as listed in the chart below are on the QPL and shall be procured from the QPL authorized manufactures. 7110-01-029-0389, Class 6 legal file, gray, 5 DWR, Milti-lock X10s 7110-00919-9193, Class 6 legal file, gray, 5 DWR, Single-lock X10 7110-00-920-9343, Class 6 legal file, gray, 4 DWR, Single-lock X10 7110-00-920-9342, Class 6 legal file, gray, 2 DWR, Single-lock X10 The Department of Defense is requiring federal agencies to purchase approved containers using National Stock Numbers. Effective October 1, 2012, classified national security information cannot be stored in non-QPL approved security containers, according to 32 CFR, Part 2001.43(b), “Requirements for physical protection.” The Department of Defense Lock Program is the technical authority on locks, safes and vaults. The DoD Lock Program is here to support all of the QPL-approved security equipment. Recently, it has come to our attention that FEDSAFES QPL-approved Class 5 security containers may have a condition that requires correction. This procurement is limited to the authorized contractors from the QPL developed by the General Services Administration.
