- Description
- Tecan Freedom EVO Base Unit and Accessories Must be Brand Name Only - Tecan Description: The Contracting activity responsible for this action is the U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) in support of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES), Division of Forensic Toxicology (DFT). The required equipment will be used to support the Division of Forensic Toxicology laboratory's designer drug surveillance effort in addition to initiating an effort with the DoD Drug Demand Reduction Program (DDRP) to initiate methodologies to replace or augment current forensic screening and confirmation processes in urine. Minimum Essential Characteristics Tecan Freedom EVO-200 robotic liquid handling instrument Main system The instrument deck must have minimum of 69 grid positions. The instrument platform must have integrated barcode scanner with articulating scanning head that can traverse the entire width of the platform and automatically access labware carriers on a minimum of 69 deck grid positions. The barcode scanner must scan labware by pulling labware carrier to the rear of the platform as to avoid unnecessary extension to the front of the instrument to accommodate this functionality. Barcode scanner must be able to distinguish an empty location verses an occupied location with labware which has no barcode label. Barcode scanner must be able to automate reading barcodes on 16 position tube carriers, 3 position reagent trough carriers and 3 position micro plate carriers. The instrument must include electro-magnetic door locks that are controlled by the software. The instrument must include mounting hardware to integrate Agilent PlateLoc plate sealer to the left edge of platform and is fully accessible to robotic gripper arm. Liquid handling arm System must include an eight-tip liquid handling arm with variable distance between tips from 9 to 38mm. Each tip must be independently controlled and be used individually to access samples, one at a time and 8 in parallel. Tip positioning precision must allow access into high-density microplates, including 1536 well plates. 8-channel Air LiHa (aLiHa) air displacement pipetting arm. The air displacement technology must minimize aerosols, contamination and offers advanced accuracy and precision in pipetting. Dynamic pipetting range of 500nL less than 6% CV to 1000uL less than 0.4% CV. Each pipetting channel must incorporate inline filters which are monitored with pressure sensing technology to protect the channel from liquid and aerosol contamination. MultiSense Option included for each channel to detect liquids using capacitance and/or pressure measurements. Configured with disposable tip adapters and lower DiTi Eject to allow for re-racking of tips and disposing in a confined work area. Pipetting in each tip of the 8 tips must be controlled with an individual diluter that allows each tip must be able to dispense a different volume. System must come with 350uL nested disposable tips configure in stacks of 5 racks of 96 tips. The liquid level detection system cable, from the tip to the board, must be routed within the Z rod of the liquid handling arm to eliminate excessive stress on the cable that can cause liquid detection failure. The liquid handling arm and the robotic arms must be controlled by separate Device Control Unit Boards for control of each arm. The X drive of the liquid handling arm must be quote mark direct quote mark drive instead of quote mark belt quote mark driven to increase accuracy in the X direction. All liquid handling parameters, such as air gap sizes, aspiration and dispense speeds and mixing must be accessible to the operator and must be easily accessible for change. Robotic Arm The instrument must include a fully integrated Robotic Manipulator Arm (RoMa), to move microplate shaped objects around the surface of the instrument. The gripper arm and the liquid handling arm must be independent and have the ability to work simultaneously, therefore multitasking. The gripper arm must move within the workstation in the same way as the liquid handling arm, and be controlled by the same software. Collision avoidance must be automatic. All robotic arms must be independent from liquid handling arms to avoid contamination and for greater throughput through multitasking. The robotic arm must have the ability to rotate 270o, allowing access to the entire work surface, The robotic arm must have the ability to reach objects that are adjacent to, but not directly on the work surface of the liquid handling arm. The robotic arm must be able to transport a mass up to 0.4Kg and must have a grip range from 55 to 140mm, allowing plates to be gripped in either portrait or landscape mode. System must allow upgrades to add a second gripper arm, or a gripper that has the ability to reach beneath the worktable of the workstation to access peripherals. Software The software must be password protected so that unauthorized users cannot make changes to crucial programs. The software must be able to be upgraded to a dynamic scheduling package. Upon aborting a run the software must have the ability to restart the script from where it stopped, or move give the user the option to start at a different line. Upon aborting a run the software must have the ability to review and change any of the variables within the original run. Upon aborting a run the software must have the ability to start within any loop of the original script. The software must have the ability to reproduce a run using a simulator with created log Files. The log files consist of all commands used by the instrument during a run. These log files must be able to be imported into a simulator (using drag and drop) and so simulate the run allowing visualization. Upon an error within a run the software must have the ability to quote mark Zip and Send quote mark all relevant information regarding the run to a designate e-mail address. Software control of integrated Agilent PlateLok plate sealer.
