- Description
- Integrated Machinery Replacement Strategy Decision Making for Replacement of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE). Develop an effective tool using operations research methodologies to solve the problem of determining the most cost effective course of action. Data gathered will facilitate decision making on repairing and/or upgrading Government Furnished Equipment or replacing the GFE with new state-of-the-art equipment. Analyze performance data from GFE currently in use, including downtime, cost of repairs and upgrades, etc. Develop preventative maintenance strategies. Estimate cost to replace current production capacity with state-of-the-art technology. Period of performance: 10/1/2014 through 9/30/2015. Conduct Data Analysis Work with MRE assemblers and tier I suppliers to observe, collect and analyze data. Conduct surveys and interviews necessary for data collection. Conduct Analysis and Develop Optimization Model Develop a model based on operations research that will consider external technology improvement and internal improvements: •· Identify uncertainties in current models of equipment maintenance. •· Propose alternative solutions via data standardization and data mining technology to identify the critical input variables. •· Develop a decision making optimization model for equipment replacement. •· Develop a 'tool box' to extract dynamic input variables depending on the variance according to the forecast. Phase I Deliverable: Create detailed database by survey and/or current available data. Phase II Deliverable: Identify variable cost(s) to weight optimal strategy by implement data mining or statistical regression. Develop one (1) complete database and optimization model. Develop raw operation platform to integrate to current system. Final Deliverables: Provide solution(s) to create greater consistencies and efficiencies in MRE assembly process given continuous equipment maintenance strategy improvement. Create a model that optimizes the assembly process based on the current specifications. Create an optimization model to address annual changes in a user friendly manner. The model will address is specific decision making with sustainable data improvement and a dynamic machinery status monitoring system.
