- Description
- Salient Characteristics for Neurostimulator Medoc TSA-II Neurosensory Analyzer 1.A Neurostimulator documents responses to highly repeatable thermal and vibratory stimuli, such as warmth, cold, heat-induced pain, cold-induced pain or vibration. 2.The sensory testing covers small-fiber testing (A-Delta and C-fiber), as well as for large caliber (A-Beta fibers) testing. 3.Also used for identifying thermal pain thresholds in various clinical and research applications. 4.The test procedure itself is similar to that employed in such routine tests as eye and hearing examinations, where patients are asked to respond to visual or auditory stimuli. Sensory testing is performed by applying the thermode on the patient's skin to heat or cool the skin. Patients respond to the temperature stimuli by pushing a button, and the sensory threshold is recorded and automatically compared to an age-matched normative data. 5.A deviation from the normal range can indicate the existence of peripheral nerve disease or damage due to injury, illness or toxic exposure. 6.The Neurostimulator will be used for the Gulf War Veteran's Illness Study 7.A laptop interfaces with system which runs the heat thermode which is attached to the patient/subject. 8.The laptop won't contain any patient/subject information apart from de-identified patient/subject id. 9.The laptop contains the software that runs the tests. It's used to control the parameters of the thermode such as temperature range and stimulus duration. 10.The system will be used to measure pain tolerance. Outcome-based color graphic reports with automated narrative discussion of test results for insurance and referral network. 11.Automatic comparison of test results to normative reference data. 12.It must be portable, have fast set-up times and ease of us. 13.Must use versatile WINDOWST based software with selection of test paradigms for maximum flexibility in clinical, research and drug trial applications. 14.Various test methods (Limits, Levels and Manual). 15.Factory installed default protocols for immediate clinical use
