Description
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), a DOE prime contractor at the Savannah River Site, seeks to house meteorological equipment on a tower that is located within a 10 mile radius of the Savannah River Site's (SRS) 'A' Area. SRS is located approximately 15 miles from Aiken, SC. The SRNS equipment must be housed at 3 different heights on the tower. The 3 tower height ranges are - 1) 20 - 40 meters, 2) 50 - 80 meters and 3) 320 - 350 meters from ground level. The following equipment will need to be housed at each of the 3 tower locations/levels. 1. One (1) ultrasonic (sonic) anemometer 2. One (1) fast response water vapor and carbon dioxide sensor 3. One (1) slow response temperature and humidity sensor housed in a solar radiation shield 4. Multiple associated junction boxes for sensor electronics and data acquisition hardware 5. One (1) ice boom 6. One (1) Yagi antenna Additionally, climate-controlled floor space in a nearby building shall be made available to SRNS, plus nearby outdoor space to house a data trailer. Premises shall be secured with fencing/wall and other appropriate property protection devices and controls. The sampling infrastructure utilizes lightweight air tubing designed to draw air down from the 3 levels on the tower through very lightweight 1/2" OD Synflex 1300 tubing. The 3 inlet levels are co-located with SRNL's equipment at the 3 above-listed height ranges. 3 tubing lines extend from the trailer at the base of the tower to each inlet level, and each line is terminated with an inlet filter. The tubing is attached to the tower with brackets. Air samples collected through the tubing are analyzed by instruments in the trailer located at the base of the tower. SRNS requires unlimited access to the Premise's and Lessor shall provide all electrical utilities, with back-up capability. Tower elevator is a strong preference. Interested parties shall submit an Expression of Interest to Lawrence K. Coffey, via e-mail, at lawrence.coffey@srs.gov, by 10/27/14. This shall include tower capabilities, for consideration by SRNS. SRNS will review Expressions of Interest, including all stated capabilities, for the purpose of developing a list of suppliers that will receive a formal Request for Proposal.
