Description
The S.M. Stoller Corporation (Stoller), a contractor to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking a subcontractor in the St. Louis metro area to provide services for site planning and preliminary design for a U.S. Department of Energy site located in St. Charles County, MO, approximately 35 miles west of St. Louis. The site was formerly the location of an explosives production plant in the 1940s and a uranium refinery in the 1950s and 1960s. An extensive environmental cleanup was performed and an onsite disposal cell was constructed to provide long-term isolation of waste materials. The current mission of the site is to perform long term surveillance and maintenance activities and provide educational and research opportunities to the public. These site planning and preliminary design services are required to replace an existing Visitor Center, staff office building, and an environmental sampling/site maintenance building. The specific location of this project area was not part of the former historical production areas. The parameters of this project include: • Replace existing structures with a 2 story building (total of approximately 30,000 square feet) • New building must comply with Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance and Sustainable Buildings • New building must be ADA compliant • A comprehensive evaluation of needed site infrastructure upgrades (e.g. electrical, waste water treatment, site drainage, etc.) is to be performed • Issues regarding site access from the main highway and an on-site traffic plan need to be evaluated This project entails performing site planning and preliminary design, with potential options for detailed design followed by construction.
