Description

Under Statutory Authority § 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), the VA Great Lakes Acquisition Center anticipates entering into sole source procurement negotiations with THOMPSON SURG. INSTRUMENT INC 10170 E CHERRY BEND RD, TRAVERSE CITY, MI 49684 for the purchase of a Brand name SURGICAL CLAMPS for the William S Middleton VAMC, located in Madison WI. This announcement is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under FAR 6.302-1. The above authority is cited and justification made based on the determination that the Government's minimum needs can best be satisfied by supplies available from one source. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Other persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement by OCTOBER 28, 2014. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirement. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of the notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation document is available. The Madison VAMC requires a Thompson Retractor system for use during surgery. This retractor provides maximum exposure for abdominal surgery. It is a rigid retractor that utilizes one-piece handles/joints. The Thompson retractor allows arms to be independently positioned and allows for 180 degree rotation of the blades. The handles can be used on Bookwalter retractor systems which are already owned by the Madison VAMC. This request is for a brand-name Thompson Retractor. It may come from any company that is authorized to distribute Thompson Retractors. All pieces of the requested system must be compatible with each other. All pieces of the requested retractor system must also be compatible with other Thompson Retractor Accessories that may be added to the system in the future.
