- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. It is neither a solicitation announcement nor a request for proposals or quotes and shall not obligate the Government to award a contract. The purpose of this Sources Sought Announcement is for market research to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources interested and capable of performing the work and obtain their size classification relative to the North American Classification System (NACIS) Code 339113 with a size standard of 500 employees. A.GENERAL INFORMATION Background: The Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center intends to purchase a Molecular Device P-Clamp and other components as listed below. This machine will be used on several funded and ongoing projects within the VA Medical Center. Scope of Work: The contractor shall provide the equipment as called for in this announcement, installation (of the new equipment), training and all other resources as may be required to deliver the requirements stated in this SOW. This contract is for the purchase of an Molecular Device P-Clamp, or similar piece of equipment which meets the salient features listed below. This is a BRAND NAME OR EQUAL requirement which will be used by the VA Medical Center This is a salient requirement, and is not flexible. The following are the minimum salient characteristics that must be met: ManufacturerPart NumberSpecific Function Molecular DevicesPCLAMP 10 UPGRADE P6electrophysiology data acquisition and analysis software Molecular DevicesAxopatch 200B-2a microelectrode amplifier for ultra-low-noise patch clamp recordings Molecular DevicesDIGIDATA 1550A analog-to-digital low-noise data acquisition system Molecular Devices PCLAMP 10 PCLAMP 10 UPGRADE of PCLAMP6 is an electrophysiology data acquisition and analysis software specifically designed for the Axopatch 200B-2 microelectrode amplifier and the DIGIDATA 1550 Low-Noise-Data Acquisition System. pCLAMP 10 software has a Graphics-User-Interface (GUI) that is compatible with pCLAMP6, can read files from pCLAMP6, and is backward compatible with pCLAMP6 data files. 1. pCLAMP 10 is a comprehensive electrophysiology software package. All types of data (action potentials (APs), minis(EPSPs), single-channel currents, whole-cell currents and voltages, LTP/LTD) can be acquired, analyzed and graphed in the same consistent software environment. Users only need to learn one user interface, instead of several different user interfaces from different vendors. This is a fully turnkey product, ready to run out of the box without any programming required. 2) pCLAMP 10 is presently the only software to support the new Digidata 1550 digitizer, and also supports other digitizers. 3) pCLAMP 10 provides the MiniDigi 1 digitizer at no extra charge. Researchers can run a digital chart recorder in the background of their main experiment to monitor their prep between sweeps, or to have a summary of the entire day in one record. 4) pCLAMP 10 fully supports telegraphing from all Axon Instruments amplifiers, including the new computer-controlled Axoclamp 900A amplifier. Most other manufacturers' amplifiers are also supported, and new instruments can be user-added. 5) pCLAMP 10 can monitor both membrane capacitance (Cm), and access resistance (Ra) for cell health, either online during acquisition, or independently of acquisition. 6) pCLAMP 10 has a split-clock feature to vary the sampling rate multiple times per sweep. This can greatly reduce the size of raw data files for data transfer and storage. 7) pCLAMP 10 includes an LTP Assistant to setup Long Term Potentiation / Depression synaptic experiments. Cursor measurement positions can be adjusted online during acquisition to encompass changes in data position. 8) pCLAMP 10 has a special Event Detection analysis mode, in which multiple views of data are all dynamically linked together. This allows researchers to attend to the most interesting form of data, and to be able to easily and quickly double-check alternate views of the data (raw, graphed, spreadsheet, captured events) 9) pCLAMP 10 includes a complete implementation of single channel analysis from a major commercial vendor. Specialized analyses include burst and latency analysis. 10) pCLAMP 10 has a comprehensive fitting library in an electrophysiology software package, with 37 different pre-defined fitting functions. MOLECULAR Devices --Axopatch 200B-2-Microelectrode Amplifier- Axopatch 200B-2 is a microelectrode amplifier for ultra low-noise (see below, <0.15 femtoamp rms in a 10 kHz bandwidth) patch clamp recordings. 1. The Axopatch 200B amplifier can resolve single channel currents in the sub-picoamp range, as measured at less than 145 femtoamps rms noise in a 10 kHz bandwidth with electrode attached. The Axopatch 200B amplifier can perform single-channel, bilayer, and nanopore analysis. 2. The Axopatch 200B amplifier provides three patch-clamp configurations in a single headstage: two whole-cell ranges and one single-channel range. 3. The Axopatch 200B amplifier uses an integrating capacitor-feedback headstage design to provide low-noise single-channel and fast, stable bilayer recordings. 4. The Axopatch 200B amplifier reduces single-channel noise via Peltier cooling of critical head stage components to less than 0 ° C. 5. The Axopatch 200B amplifier uses a resistive-feedback headstage design for the best possible whole-cell recordings. 6. The Axopatch 200B amplifier provides separate series-resistance compensation controls for "super charged" prediction, and correction, in both voltage-clamp and current-clamp modes. 7. The Axopatch 200B amplifier provides whole-cell capacitance compensation (up to 100 or 1000 pF) for a large range of cell sizes. 8. The Axopatch 200B amplifier employs a dual-speed current clamp for speed and stability. 9. The Axopatch 200B amplifier has a large voltage and current command range ( ±1 V) for electrochemical measurements. 10. The Axopatch 200B amplifier CV203BU headstage has a slim design, so that electrodes can be easily positioned in a preparation. 11. The Axopatch 200B amplifier provides an output gain with a 1000-fold dynamic range. 12. The Axopatch 200B amplifier provides a 4-pole Bessel filter with band-pass settings from 1 kHz to 100 kHz and bypass. 13. The Axopatch 200B amplifier provides traditional "hands-on" control via front panel knobs, switches and meters. 14. The Axopatch 200B amplifier can be interfaced with any data acquisition system. BNCs telegraph the output gain, filter frequency, headstage mode and cell capacitance. 15. The Axopatch 200B amplifier is rack-mount ready for a standard 2U rack. MOLECULAR Devices DIGIDATA 1550 Low-Noise-DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM. DIGIDATA 1550 is a digitalization low-noise (see definition of low-noise below*) data acquisition system. Digidata 1550 is a low-noise high-resolution 16-bit digitizer that also has a 500kHz sampling rate. Digidata 1550 can interface with a computer via a USB 2.0 port. 1)The analog input noise levels (< + 1 mV Avg (p-p)) 2) The maximum sampling rate is 500 kHz per channel on all 8 input channels simultaneously. This provides a very high aggregate throughput of 4 MSamples/s. 3) DIGIDATA 1550 is the only system with 8 separate DACs, allowing 8 simultaneous waveforms for higher throughput or more complex neuronal network experiments. 4) DIGIDATA 1550 provides 8 analog input channels. This number of inputs allows one instrument to perform a wide variety of experiments, ranging from multiple electrodes in a brain slice, to whole-animal physiology. 5) DIGIDATA 1550 has 8 separate ADCs. This virtually eliminates any crosstalk noise between analog input channels, even with large amplitude differentials between input signals. 6) DIGIDATA 1550 has several digital triggering options (digital trigger/BNC connection, digital trigger/parallel pin connection, analog trigger/BNC connection) for flexible interfacing with other hardware devices, such as valve controllers, stimulators and imaging systems. 7) DIGIDATA 1550 is the next generation of digitizers from Molecular Devices and is supported by the pCLAMP ® 10.4 Data Acquisition and Analysis Software. This ensures an easy upgrade path for the large number of electrophysiology labs currently using pCLAMP Software around the world. 8) DIGIDATA 1550 is bundled with the AxoScope 10.4 Data Acquisition Software, providing a functional data acquisition system right "out of the box". 9) DIGIDATA 1550 has low-noise high-precision 16-bit analog outputs for precise stimulation. 10) DIGIDATA 1550 connects to computers via a standard USB 2.0 port. This makes both desktop and laptop installation extremely simple and easy. 11) DIGIDATA 1550 is rack-mount ready for a standard 2U rack. The front panel also provides convenient access to almost all functionality.
