- Dynamic Spectrum Industry Day December 5, 2014 Mark Center 4800 Mark Center Drive Alexandria, Va. 22350-3600 Industry Day Overview Information DoD forces must operate in an increasingly congested and contested electromagnetic spectrum environment. Assured dynamic spectrum access is vital for maintaining the ability to project military power and protect forward-deployed personnel and materiel. The Department of Defense (DOD) will be conducting an Industry Day on December 5, 2014, to review the types of challenges and opportunities associated with emerging technology developments that enable assured access to the electromagnetic spectrum. Spectrum access technologies are initially focused on the following applications: Command & Control Communications Sensing & processing Electronic Warfare Training Test & Evaluation The Industry Day will be cohosted by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Research & Engineering) (OASD(R&E)), DOD Chief Information Office, and DOD Joint Staff J6. Topics to be addressed include potential applications as identified above as well as introductions of key DOD personnel responsible for Spectrum Access Requirements, Spectrum Access Policy, Personnel & Readiness Training, Governance Process Management, Technical Project Management, and Technology Assessment & Evaluation and Experimentation. Registrants are encouraged to make use of public transit and/or taxi service. Parking at the Mark Center is limited, on a first-come, first-served basis, and prior personal vehicle registration is required (see instructions below). Attendees will be charged an $18.00 food service fee that covers the cost of morning coffee & pastry, lunch, and afternoon beverage service that must be paid in advance (see instructions below). IMPORTANT Registration (including background checks & security clearances) Registration will be accomplished through submission of a Visitor Authorization Request (VAR). The Mark Center is a secure facility, operating under Department of Defense regulations for restricted entry. All visits to the Mark Center must be preapproved via written VAR and notification by Pentagon Force Protection Agency responsible staff members. Required VAR information must be provided to the point of contact (POC): Ms. Michellie Douglas, Office of the DASD(EC&P) no later than 21 November 2014 to be authorized to attend Industry Day. Nongovernment Attendees: Please fax the following VAR information to Michellie Douglas, Office of the DASD(EC&P), POC for processing of National Crime Information Center background check and access to the Mark Center complex. Directions to Mark Center B1 Auditorium & Conference Rooms All Industry Day attendees must present photo identification to the Industry Day receptionists, receive an Industry Day name tag and credentials, and proceed to Mark Center Security Inspection (metal detector and X-ray of hand-carried items) in the Mark Center Visitor Control Center area. Government employees are encouraged to bring their CAC, if Mark Center coded, as an additional means for entry. The following directions are provided to assist with entry and movement to the Mark Center Auditorium and Conference Rooms. 1.Arrive at the Mark Center (see map attachment) 1a.Arrive by Metro bus or taxi at the Mark Center Complex. Use the escalator near the bus station to level P5 and walk along the walkway at level P5. or 1b.Park a personal vehicle in the Mark Center North Parking garage. Walk to level P5. 2.Exit the parking garage and follow the signs to the Mark Center Visitor Control Center. 3.Sign in and check in at the Industry Day table. Pick up Industry Day name tag and credentials, Mark Center map, agenda, and food service receipt. If your name is not pre-cleared you will not be provided a name tag nor allowed to proceed to the Industry Day meeting. 4.Turn left after sign-in and proceed to Mark Center Security Inspection (metal detector and X-ray of hand-carried items) in the Mark Center Visitor Control Center area. 5.Walk through the metal detector per the security guard's guidance. 6.Exit the Mark Center Visitor Control Center, turn right, and use the down escalator. 7.At the bottom of the escalator, angle left and enter the East Tower through two sets of automatic opening doors. 8.Use the Industry Day name tag and credentials to enter through revolving door # 6 (Industry Day participants can enter only through # 6). 9.Turn left and walk past Cafe 4800, following signs to the East Tower elevators. 10.Turn left toward the East Tower Elevators.
