Description
Lock Program RFI This Request for Information (RFI) is part of a market research effort by the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) to assess the current marketplace for security locks, components, and related items for doors, file cabinets, and safes. Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 15.201(e), this RFI is issued for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or to otherwise pay for information received in response to this RFI. DS is conducting research to identify small business - 8(a) resellers that are able to supply locks and related lock products by manufacturers such as Kaba Ilco, Medeco, Sargent & Greenleaf as well as others. DS intends to use the information collected from this RFI to conduct a detailed market analysis that evaluates the supply capability of 8(a) lock vendors/resellers. The related NAICS code is 423710. BACKGROUND DS is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the conduct of U.S. foreign policy. In support of this mission, DS employs a security lock management program to protect personnel and property. SPECIFIC TECHNICAL INFORMATION REQUESTED DS desires detailed information regarding the current market for small business- 8(a) high-level lock providers/resellers. When responding to the RFI, please include the following information: (1) A brief summary of the response and indicating if supporting documentation is included. Provide a general Description of your lock and related supply capability. What products (brands) and technologies do you sell that have the potential to support DS? (2) Provide a list of U.S. (or international) Government contracts for lock products/technologies where applicable. (3) A brief description of your shipping and transport methods both international and domestic. (4) A brief discerption regarding your working relationship with the listed manufacturers and if you are an authorized reseller of any lock or lock components. (5) Please limit electronic responses to no more than 10 pages total. (6) Your current small business status - and if your company is in the 8(a) program.
