- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) intends to procure on a sole source basis with NanoString Technologies, 530 Fairview Avenue, Suite 2000, Seattle, Washington 98119-4261 to provide the following product: nCounter GX CodeSet-384 rxns GXA-P1CS-384 (323 Genes x 384 Rxns). NanoString is the only company to sell this type of kit. The system utilizes a novel digital technology that is based on direct multiplexed measurement of gene expression and offers high levels of precision and sensitivity (<1 copy per cell). The technology uses molecular barcodes and single molecule imaging to detect and count hundreds of unique transcripts in a single reaction. The NIAAA lab experiments rely on the ability to detect small changes in the expression of multiple mRNA, from low amounts of tissue available when specific brain nuclei are dissected. From published data and preliminary experiments with another NIH core facility, Nanostring technology is a unique, proprietary and patented tool to analyzing gene expression with the precision, sensitivity and linearity require for these experiments. There is no comparable, commercially available technology. This is set aside for Small Businesses. In compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) Soliciting from a single source.
