Description
The Maneuver, Aviation, and Soldier Division Chief, Army Capabilities Integration Center (ARCIC) is seeking sources interested in providing technologies for unmanned ground vehicles for the US Army. In today's military, unmanned systems are highly desired by Combatant Commanders for their versatility and persistence. By performing task such as surveillance; signal intelligence; precision target designation; improvised explosive device detection and defeat; tunnel exploration and mapping; mine detection and clearing; and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear reconnaissance, unmanned systems have made key contributions to the Global War on Terror. With the continued employment of increasingly sophisticated forces of unmanned systems, there will be an ever-increasing demand for new, efficient, innovative and effective technologies. A better understanding of technologies currently available and/or under development will allow the Army to develop more comprehensive concepts and meaningful requirements. Responses should include technologies with regards to: 1) Communications (antennas, Line of Sight, Non-Line of Sight); 2) Platforms (emphasis on, but not restricted to, small, lightweight); 3) Attachments (highly dexterous arms, charge placement, sensors, lights, cameras (color and IR)); 4) Power (batteries, rechargeability); 5) Mobility; 6) Countermeasures (both for survivability and offensive use); 7) Autonomy. Responses to this RFI are not limited to domestic US vendors. Organizations should present their responses in the attached spreadsheet. Submitters should include as much information as they feel appropriate, however, columns A through Y as especially critical. Specification sheets and product information may also be provided in addition to the spreadsheet. Responses to this RFI must be unclassified. Responses should be submitted no later than 1700 hours on 19 December 2014. Organizations should submit their responses electronically to LTC Matthew Dooley, Chief, Lethality Branch, ARCIC at matthew.a.dooley3.mil@mail.mil or send hardcopies to LTC Matthew Dooley, Maneuver, Aviation and Soldier Division, Capabilities Directorate, Army Capabilities Integration Center (ARCIC), US Army TRADOC, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA 23604-5762. E-mail file size shall not exceed 5MB. Technical questions may be directed to Mr. Bruce Donlin at bruce.j.donlin.ctr@mail.mil, or at 703-545-4676. This Request for Information (RFI) is for planning purposes only and shall not be considered as an invitation for bid, request for quotation, request for proposal, or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. Your response to this RFI will be treated as information only. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of contractor submission of responses to this announcement or the Government use of such information. This request does not constitute a solicitation for proposals or the authority to enter into negotiations to award a contract. No funds have been authorized, appropriated, or received for this effort. The information provided may be used by the Department of Defense in developing its acquisition strategy and statement of work/statement of objectives and performance specifications. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or competition sensitive information contained in their response. Responses are due NLT 1700 EST on 19 December 2014.
