Description
Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to issue a modification to contract number N00019-09-C-0024, to extend services for 6 months pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) clause 52.217-8 "Option to Extend Services" of the contract. This will be a sole source modification to Sikorsky Support Services, Inc., 6900 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06614-1378. When the subject contract was awarded to Sikorsky Support Services on 23 December 2008, FAR clause 52.217-8 "Option to Extend Services" was included but not specifically evaluated therefore award of this option will be supported by a Justification and Approval. Exercise of this option will allow the Government to continue services until the competitive follow-on contract can be awarded. The period of performance of the extension is estimated to be 1 January 2015 to 30 June 2015. The F-5 CLS contract provides Air Combat Training Continuum service for Navy and Marine Corps aircrew, conducts graduate-level strike-fighter pilot instruction, and air combat training as the adversary aircraft in support of Fleet Carrier Air Wing deploying squadrons' training requirements. The CLS contractor provides all logistics support services for O, selected I and limited D level maintenance required to support and maintain these 44 aircraft. The need for continuity of operations and the potential cost impact of disrupting operations were considered in making the determination to extend the subject contract. This notice of intent is neither a request for proposal nor a solicitation of offers. This synopsis is provided for information purposes only.
