- This Small Business Sources Sought Notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation or commitment by the Government. This notice is intended strictly for Market Research. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases is conducting a market survey to determine the availability and technical capability of qualified small business, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business or HUBZone small businesses capable of providing following items: Brand Name or Equal to: Glen Mills Inc DYNO-MILL MULTI LAB with the following specifications: Standard DYNO-MILL, model MULTI LAB ML, motor: 220V, 3-phase, 60Hz, ~4.0kW, no neutral, Viton O-rings, with one continuous flange, seal rinsing by Gear Pump; On-Off push button and ammeter, local reading temperature and pressure gauges; Machine: 0.56z liter continuous chamber, SiC grinding chamber liner, polyurethane agitator discs, 316L agitator shaft spacers and rotor ring backing piece, WC rotor and stator ring; Shaft Seal: Single mechanical seal, WC sliding rings (process side), teflon lip seal (atmospheric side); Spares kit: shaft protection sleeve, O-rings, lip seals; Installation and operation qualification documents (IQ/OQ); Product Feed Pump: Stand-alone peristaltic pump 1 x 110 x 60, Watson Marlow 520S/R; Grinding media: 0.5 - 0.7 (listed as 0.6 - 0.8) mm ZrO (sp.gr 3.8), 3Kgs (6.6lbs)@$9.45/lb and Grinding media: 0.5 - 0.7 (listed as 0.6 - 0.8) mm ZrO (sp.gr 3.8), 3Kgs (6.6lbs)@$9.45/lb(plus). The purpose of this acquisition is to obtain a grinder (Dyno Mill) to lyse yeast while leaving the majority of the mitochondria intact. We need intact mitochondria because we separate them from the cell debris after lysis by centrifugation. This is an important purification step for purifying mitochondrial membrane proteins In addition, we need to be able to chill the mill to ~10 C using a chiller to prevent the degradation of mitochondrial proteins. The grinder also needs to be able to process 1.5 kg of yeast resuspended in 4 liters of buffer in ~1.5 hours and do this primarily unattended. Independently, and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall perform task assignments in the following Task Areas ---where the set up shall occur. When and where and who will set up training. How long they have to install / set up / remove Task Area 1 - Any necessary setup will occur and be performed by the vendor. Installation can take 1 day to 1 week and needs to be done as soon as reasonably possible. Task Area 2 - Any necessary training location will be provided at time of award. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) code 334516 with a size standard of 500. Offerors who are capable of providing at a minimum, fifty-one percent (51%) of the required/actual services of this solicitation. All respondents are requested to identify their firm's size and type of business. Interested firms responding to this market survey must provide (a) capability statement demonstrating their experience, skills and capability to fulfill the Government's requirements for the above. The capability statement shall be in sufficient enough detail, but not to exceed 15 pages, so that the Government can determine the experience and capability of your firm to provide the requirements above. Your capability statement, not to exceed 15 pages, should include references. Capability statement must be received at the address identified in this synopsis no later than 11:00 A.M. local time at designated location) on December 4, 2014. Responses by FAX or E-MAIL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
