Description

The U.S. Maritime Administration intends to contract on a sole source basis with BAE Ship repair of San Francisco for repair services on the Maine Engine of the Training Ship GOLDEN BEAR. This company along with their sub Worldwide of Florida are the only known sources for this Main Engine repair. The authority for this sole source procurement is under 10 U.S.C. 2403 (c)(1) as implemented in FAR 6.302-1 " only one source will satisfy the requirements of this procurement". Firms that recognize that they can provide the required technicians that have demonstrated experience (of at least 5 years) repairing the no-longer-supported Enterprise R5 v16 diesel engines together with the same on the DeLaval C17 Turbochargers are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer. The supporting evidence shall be received by the Contracting Officer within 9 days calendar days after the date of publication. This announcement stands without a solicitation and specifications. The identifying document number shall be DTMAQ1500003. Interested parties must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government, and the services required will be provided in a timely and effective manner to meet the Government's requirements. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed extension based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
