Description
This is a SUB-CONTRACTING OPPORTUNITY. Scope of Work - 92334 Catergory: 15.3.3-Ventilation Findings: The exhaust ventilation system in the NW compartment of the Welding shop uses a roof0mounted exhaust fan (EF-3) serving the welding booths. However, the exhaustfan and associated ductwork is undersized and do not provide the captured air velocities and volumetric flow rate required for removal of contaminants. Clouds of welding fumes/smoke fill the shop during welding even though the makeup air unit and the exhaust fan are in operation. Some of the metallic hoods and flexible exhaust hoses have been damaged and do not function effectively; some are missing entirely. The center compartment of welding shop has eight welding booths but the exhaust ventilation system is not provided. The students are exposed to hazardous concentration of air-born contaminants in the breathing zone. The current condition does not meet OSHA and International Mechanical Code ventilation requirements.(20cfr1910.252 and IMC,2012,502.1) Recommendations: replace existing roof-monuted exhaust fan, associated exhaust ductwork and makeup air unit serving the NW compartment of welding shop. Provide new exhaust ductwork;exhaust fans of larger capacity(minimum 7200cfm) and roof mountd makeup air unit(Evaporative cooler,6090CFM) in the NW and center compartments of the welding shop areas. re-use the existing roof openings, electrical connection if siutable, otherwise, energize from the nearest panel with available capacity using 208V wiring consisting of 3 #12, 125LF and connected to a 20A, 2pole circut breaker in the existing panel for each fan.Provide local disconnect in accordance with manufactuers recommendations and NEC. Re-use existing flexible exhaust arms in NE welding compartment. Provide new flexible exhaust arms in the center welding compartment of the same type existing. Contractor shall balance the air systems, provide a copy of the test, and balance report to the esc project manager. All minterested parties should conmtact Kevin Egan @ 505-222-4185 or by email @ kevin.egan@fluor.com or by fax 505-222-4291 or Ed Espinosa @505-366-1249 or by email @ espinosa.ed@jobcorps.org for further details to make an appointment for viewing the project and location by 1/12/2015.
