Description
North Springfield Lake Bridge Repairs Pre-Solicitation Notice. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is issuing a set aside for certified small business contractors for the Repairs to the Spillway and Service Bridges at the North Springfield Lake, Springfield, Vermont. The NAICS codes for the work described below are 237310 (size standard $36.5M). The project is planned to be issued in January 2015, and will be set aside for Small Businesses. The construction will extend over a one-month period occurring in the spring of 2015. Cost will be in $100,000 to $500,000 range. Any responsible source meeting this standard may submit a bid to be considered by the New England District. The location of work to be performed under this contract shall be at the North Springfield Lake in Springfield, Vermont. The scope of the project is as follows: Service Bridge 1. Apply sealer on bridge deck and horizontal and vertical surfaces of curbs. 2. Clean, sandblast and paint with primer and top coat the joint plates. 3. Clean, sandblast and paint with primer and top coat the two bearings and bearing plates at the abutment, as much as possible with bridge in place. Spillway Bridge * Below Bridge Deck @ West Abutment: 1. Repair concrete around bearing plates. 2. Repair cracks in concrete cap, possibly using epoxy resin injection. 3. Clean, sandblast and paint fixed bearings. Assume that the existing paint contains lead. 4. Work at this location will require fall protection. * Below Bridge Deck @ East Abutment: 1. Clean, sandblast and paint expansion bearings with primer and top coat. Assume existing paint contains lead. Assume bearing anchor bolts do not need to be replaced. No fall protection needed at this location because there is plenty of room to work. Fence is intact between bearings and spillway. * Above Bridge Deck @ West Approach: 1. Repair curbs 2. Repair concrete at five transverse joints. 3. Replace joint material at five transverse joints 4. Complete miscellaneous concrete repairs at base of railing posts and parapets. 5. Apply sealer on bridge deck and horizontal and vertical surfaces of curbs. 6. Replace missing compression joint at west abutment bridge joint. 7. Remove and replace asphalt pavement at interface of concrete/asphalt approach. * Above Bridge Deck @ East Approach: 1. Remove and replace deteriorated concrete at top of backwall. 2. Pave at interface. * On Bridge Deck: 1. Repair concrete at transverse deck joints. Please note this solicitation is set aside for certified small businesses. This is not a request for proposals at this time, the solicitation requirements and contract documents to include instructions for submission and the response date will be available on or about January 25th, 2015. Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests for hard copies of this solicitation will be accepted. The solicitation will only be available online; in order to download the solicitation offerors must access the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fbo.gov).
