Description
PROJECT TITLE: NAVSTA Roadway Striping PROJECT LOCATION: Gate 1 to Gate 17, Naval Station Newport, Newport, RI PART I - PROJECT SCOPE AND GENERAL INFORMATION: 1.1GENERAL INTENTION: It is the declared and acknowledged intention and meaning to repaint dividing lines, crosswalks, stop lines, and other associated traffic signs from Gate 1 to Gate 17 for a complete and ready to use product. 1.2GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provide all labor, materials, transportation, equipment, supplies and supervision to repaint dividing lines, crosswalks, stop lines and other associated traffic signs from Gate 1 to Gate 17, complete and ready for use. 1.3LOCATION: The work shall be located along Perry Road, from Gate 1 intersection to the intersection of Defense Highway with Pier Access Road at Gate 17 in Naval Station Newport. 1.4COMMENCEMENT, PROSECUTION AND COMPLETION OF WORK: The contractor shall not commence field work under this contract prior to 01 APR 2015. Work shall proceed continuously. The contractor shall complete the entire work, ready for use, on or before 30 MAY 2015). The time stated for completion shall include final clean-up of the premises. The contractor shall set up a meeting with the contracting officer or representative prior to the start of work. The contractor shall schedule his work no less than 48 hours in advance with the contracting officer. PART II - TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: 2.1 DETAILED REQUIREMENTS: PROJECT SCOPE: This project consists of furnishing and applying reflectorized two-component epoxy resin pavement marking material on asphaltic and portland cement concrete pavement surfaces. The project work area shall consist of Perry Road, from Gate 1 intersection to the intersection of Defense Highway with Pier Access Road at Gate 17. All work shall be performed in accordance with the Rhode Island Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2004 Edition with latest revisions and at the locations indicated on the plans and/or as directed by the Contract Specialist. An area of Perry Road, from Porter Avenue to just south of Taylor Drive will be a bid option due to section of roadway being under construction or going to be under construction. Materials shall conform to Subsections M.17.01 and M.17.04; Glass Beads - Dual Gradation and Epoxy Resin Pavement Markings, respectively, of the Rhode Island Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2004 Edition with latest revisions. Construction Methods shall conform to Subsections T.20.03.1, T.20.03.2, T.20.03.6, and T.20.03.7; Cleaning Pavement, Defective Work, Epoxy Resin Pavement Markings, and Symbols and Word Messages, respectively, of the Rhode Island Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2004 Edition with latest revisions. GENERAL PROVISIONS: 1.The contractor shall provide all required materials, labor, services, equipment, and incidentals related to work as required. The work shall include but shall not be limited to the following: a.Paint striping for crosswalks, centerline striping, edge striping, channelizing hatch, railroad crossings and stop lines, directional arrows and pavement marking word STOP and ONLY where applicable. 2.Include all signage and pavement markings in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for road closures, detours and construction zones. 3.Contractor shall coordinate work areas with contracting Officer prior to the start of construction. 4.All associated work shall be per RIDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, including Compilation of Approved Specifications and Supplements. 5.Any road closures will be coordinated through the Navy road closure process set forth by the NAVFAC Newport Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD) and submitted prior to the outage. Contractor shall make provisions for safe pedestrian crossing during construction. All traffic control shall be accomplished in accordance with MUTCD. 6.Contractor shall be responsible for the protection from damage of all existing structures, equipment, finishes, etc. during construction. Any items not included in the Scope of Work that are damaged or altered during construction shall be restored to their pre-construction condition at the contractor s expense and verified as such by the Contracting Officer.
