- This is a Sources Sought Notice (SSN) as defined in FAR 15.201(e). This is not a solicitation. Please read this announcement carefully. The Network Contracting Office 21 (NCO) is requesting information to determine if there are any Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB), Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSB), Hubzone Small Business, Small Disadvantage Business, Woman Owned, 8(a) or Small businesses (SB) that can provide a glucose meter that is FDA approved for hospital use on critically ill patients. Moderate or highly complex clearance by the FDA will not satisfy this requirement. Critically ill patients are defined under the following criteria: Definition of critical illness Identification of those critically ill patients at greatest risk of hypoglycemia is the first priority. One such definition might include patients with 1)Hypotension requiring vasopressor support to maintain MAP>60 mmHg OR 2)Anemia (hematocrit <24%), unless using a multichannel POC glucometer with built-in hematocrit correction or if a mathematical correction for hematocrit is used14. OR 3)On continuous insulin infusion for tight glycemic control when the minimum of the target glucose range is <=100 mg/dL or the measured glucose level approaches 150 mg/dL The purpose of this notice is for market research purposes to gain knowledge of qualified sources relative to NAICS 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacture and size standard 500. The Government will use responses to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Qualified parties are invited to respond. Responses must state if glucose meter is FDA approved based on the criteria and definition above. In addition, response should include company name, address, point of contact, phone and fax numbers, email address, DUNS number. Email responses to Teena Glasper at teena.glasper@va.gov no later than January 14, 2015 at 10:00 AM PST. Telephone responses will not be accepted. This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or make an award, nor does the notice restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. A response to this Sources Sought Notice is not a request to be added to a prospective bidder's list or to receive a copy of the solicitation. Interested offerors must respond to the solicitation, if issued, in addition to responding to this Sources Sought Notice.
