- Description
- The US Army, Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) seeks companies interested in entering into Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA) to study the compatibility of Industry's existing turret systems with the XM813 30mm Medium Caliber Weapon System when mounted to an armored fighting vehicle platform (tentatively a Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) or Stryker). Participating partners will be responsible for funding their own activities, as no Government funding will be provided for this effort. The results of these planned compatibility assessments and comparisons will aid ARDEC's determination of an optimal Industry turret for tentative follow-on CRADAs to demonstrate the accuracy and lethality of the XM813 in an LAV or Stryker platform. The number of such follow-on CRADAs to be executed is dependent on the availability of internal Government resources to conduct the planned follow-on demonstrations. Companies providing turrets under the initial turret system are expected to commit to a follow-on integration and demonstration should ARDEC select their technology as an optimal fit. As with the initial assessment, companies participating in these follow-on CRADAs will be responsible for funding their own activities. However, should these follow-on demonstrations occur, the Government will be responsible for providing the weapon systems, sensors, vehicle platforms, test facilities, test equipment, ammunition, necessary documentation, and available expertise to allow live fire testing at a future date. The U.S. Government prefers technical data disclosure, and subsequent partnering, with U.S. based companies. Non-U.S. nationals, or those representing non-U.S. industries, must consider how to address data export restrictions (through partnering or other means) should a CRADA be pursued. ARDEC is open to discussions with foreign industry representatives with the understanding that the material and technical data disclosed would be limited to open source information and no sensitive or classified information will be discussed. ARDEC asks all interested parties to submit a short informational paper to include but not limited to: turret description, photos and turret performance information. Submissions should be sent to Daniel Pierrez, 973.724.8644, Daniel.pierrez.civ@mail.mil. All submissions must be provided by January 30, 2015. These information papers should describe how the interested partners' may meet the objectives cited above. This may include a summary of candidate turret systems and relevant expertise, facilities and experience in weapons systems integration. This is not a request for proposal, request for quotation, or invitation for bid, nor does its issuance obligate or restrict the Government to an acquisition approach. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of any responses or pay for the preparation of any information submitted or use of such information. All information received will be used for planning and market research purposes only.
