- Request for Information for Immersion Suit Zippers 1.The U.S. Army Contracting Command-Redstone is issuing this request for information synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support production of Immersion Suit Zippers as a component of the Lightweight Immersion Suit for Aviation, which was developed as a part of the Air Soldier System. The results of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this procurement is 339993. 2.THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AT THIS TIME. This request for capability information does not constitute a request for proposals; submission of any information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary; the government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred. There is no commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or to make an award. All documentation and samples provided in response will become the property of the Government. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted or acknowledged, and no feedback or evaluations will be provided to companies regarding their submissions. 3.To achieve weight and bulk reduction goals, the Air Soldier program requires a light-weight, flexible, low-bulk main entry slide fastener (hereafter referred to as zipper). The zipper shall have fire resistance characteristics and provide a full seal at water depth of up to 30 meters. Twisting or bending shall not impede function. Durability for military application shall be a consideration. The zipper is intended to be incorporated into the Lightweight Immersion Suit Aviation (LISA). The zipper must be in compliance with the Berry Amendment (Title 10 United States Code (U.S.C.) Section 2533a). 4.Submissions can be through written correspondence and/or electronic mail. Responses should include, at a minimum: (A) Company History: A one page history to include previous major products and primary customer base. Also provide organization name, address, email address, telephone number, size and type of ownership for the organization. (B) Past Experience Information: List your company's experience within the last five years for work of a similar size, type, and complexity as described above. (C) Additional Information: a description of the potential offeror's product to include specification, environmental ranges, size, weight (oz per inch); a Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) for production lead time from contract award to system delivery; 5.Interested parties who consider themselves qualified to manufacture lightweight immersion suit zippers are invited to submit a response to this Request for Information Notice by 10 February, 2015. All responses under this Request for Information Notice must be emailed to kourtney.c.blanding.civ@mail.mil.
