Description

Magnitude of Construction Project: Between $100,000 and $250,000. Tentative dates for: Issuing invitations 22 January 2015 Opening bids 22 February 2015 Completing contract performance 28 September 2015 The Maxwell Locks and Dam Monolith R-16 Repairs Contract consist of installing five mechanical wedge anchors through the concrete monolith to secure the previously displaced wall section of the upper guard wall. The anchor installation work includes providing exploratory core holes, installing the mechanical wedge anchors, grouting of the anchors, and grouting of the anchors recesses. The project also includes the repair of four embedded electrical conduits. This requires saw cutting and removal on two concrete block outs that will have to be replaced upon completion of the electrical work. Additional work includes removing and replacing the monolith's expansion joints. Construction waste, including concrete rubble, shall be disposed of at a commercially permitted facility licensed to accept the waste. Construction will occur in close proximity to waterway traffic in the upper pool of the river chamber. The river chamber shall be closed to waterway traffic but the land chamber shall remain open. The existing lock chambers are currently operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
