- This is not a request for quote announcement. This is a sources sought notice only. Not responding to this sources sought does not preclude participation in any future and potential solicitation. The purpose of this notice is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources capable of providing one (1) FTEE Dermatologist Locum Tenens. SOURCES SOUGHT: The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 18), Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS), Tucson, AZ, is currently seeking information from any company that can provide the following service/s: The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) in Tucson, Arizona provides dermatology services to Veteran patients. The Medicine Care Line at the Southern Arizona VA Medical Center (SAVAHCS) in Tucson, AZ requires one (1) FTEE Locum Tenens Dermatology Physician OR Physician Assistant to provide dermatological medical care. Scope of Services: The SAVAHCS facility is in need of one (1) FTEE Dermatology Physician OR Physician Assistant Locum Tenens Services required five (5) days per week which includes patient examinations and education and supervision of training for residents/fellows. The dermatology locum tenens must have proficiency in diagnostic and interventional dermatological care. He/She will participate in the education and supervision of procedure training for residents/fellows; and, will help review and triage consult referrals to the dermatology clinics and will apply national and VA guidelines to patient screening, surveillance and management of dermatology disorders. All medical record documentation will be done in the Computer Patient Record System (CPRS). Patients include all conditions and diseases relating to dermatology specialty. The average number of patients seen per day is approximately 18. The locum tenens dermatologist will be required to be credentialed and privileged at the Southern Arizona VA Medical Center, and abide by the rules and bylaws of the medical staff. SERVICES: Contract services are needed five (5) days a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. The dermatology locum tenens will generally perform clinics five days per week, supervise residents/fellows performing clinical duties 3-4 times per week, and inpatient consults. Patient care will be required for new and established Veteran referrals. Such care includes examination, general history, and evaluation. Patient care is required for new and established Veterans. The dermatology locum tenens will be responsible for but not limited to: "Patient examinations "Diagnostic and interventional dermatological care "Education and supervision of training for residents/fellows "Participate in the education and supervision of procedure training for residents/fellows "Triage consult referrals to the dermatology COMPUTERIZED PATIENT RECORD SYSTEM (CPRS): All patient data, (history, evaluation, findings, recommendations, requests for laboratory and x-ray studies, etc.) shall be entered into the patient's chart electronically. The dermatology locum tenens shall have computer and typing skills commensurate with this requirement. Computer training and access shall be provided on the first day of service. Sharing of computer access codes is prohibited. The dermatology locum tenens will comply with all information security and privacy requirements as dictated by VA and SAVAHCS policy and/or directive. DOCUMENTATION: Documentation shall be in accordance with the bylaws, policy, and regulations established by the VA and SAVAHCS or the facility in which the care is provided. CONSENT: The dermatology locum tenens shall explain procedures, risks, and potential benefits to the patient and/or guardian, obtain proper VA consents, and any other requirements as established by VA and SAVAHCS policy and/or directive. ENCOUNTERS: A VA encounter shall be completed on each outpatient treated to include appropriate CPT codes and diagnosis. PATIENTS: Patient population requiring services may include Veterans with a variety of illnesses and/or injuries. Performance Monitoring: SAVAHCS will perform performance monitoring of the locum tenens performance under the contract to include the following areas: a. Time and Attendance b. Clinic timeliness c. Completeness of test results, interpretation and treatment Security Requirements: Position Sensitivity The position sensitivity has been designated as Low Risk. Background Investigation: The level of background investigation commensurate with the required level of access is National Agency Check with Written Inquiries. Qualifications: The dermatology locum tenens shall possess full and unrestricted license and/or certification in the State of Arizona, United States. Appointment to staff at SAVAHCS is contingent upon successful credentialing and privileging. Appointment to staff is a prerequisite to placement of any clinician performing work under this agreement. Credentialing and privileging must be completed before providing services. The qualifications of such personnel shall also be subject to review by the SAVAHCS Chief of Staff and approval by the SAVAHCS Director. The dermatology locum tenens shall be responsible for meeting appropriate Joint Commission requirements regarding quality assurance, such as maintaining current credentials and clinical privileges, peer review, participating in criteria development and data analysis and providing guidance in meeting requirements for the dermatology department and Medicine Care Line Services. The dermatology locum tenens physician or PA must possess basic proficiency in spoken and written English in accordance with public law 95-201. The Dermatology Locum Tenens must have his/her own assigned DEA number. Place of Performance: Work will be performed at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System Medical Center, 3601 South 6th Avenue, Tucson, Arizona, 85723-0001. Work Hours: a. Tour of duty will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm excluding Federal holidays. b. The following terms have the following meanings: (1)Tour of Duty: days and hours assigned for work (2)Federal Holidays: The 10 holidays observed by the Federal Government are: New Years Day Martin Luther King's Birthday Presidents Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Columbus Day Veterans Day Thanksgiving Christmas Additional Federal Holidays are those specifically declared by the President of the United States to be a national holiday are included. c. The dermatology locum tenens will be present for duty within the hours stated above for the entirety of this agreement, or longer if extended. On-Call Hours: There may be a requirement for on-call duty. **Seeking information as to availability of any agency providers who would be able to commit to a tour of this length (a base period of 6 months with one (1) six month option exercised at the discretion of the Government) at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System.
